Session II

Month 1: Unleashing Your Creativity
“As a mom, a great way to nurture or reconnect with who you are is to re-engage in a creative activity you haven’t tried in a while (or start something new). Nothing makes us feel more vibrant than tapping into the creative flow.” What activities bring you pure joy? What stimulates your creative juices? When do you experience “flow” in your life? We’ll find out, together!

Month 2: Outrageous Living: Reclaiming Adventure in Your Life
“Experiencing and embracing our adventurous selves – whether that means skydiving or trying a Vietnamese restaurant – is a marvelous way to reconnect with and nurture our essence. ... Pushing ourselves a little outside of our comfort zones can be healthy and invigorating.” Some people have stronger comfort zones than others... but everyone can benefit from stretching the limits, gently, yet firmly and regularly. It keeps fear (of the unknown, of failing, etc.) from running your life!

Month 3: Changing Relationships: Staying Connected
“It all goes back to the question: what relationships feed me (and which ones drain me), and what do I need to feel nurtured and supported to live my best life?” Most marriages struggle after having a baby, for so many reasons: lack of resources (money, time, patience, energy, attention and so on), stress and sleep-deprivation, navigating new roles, and many more. We all know that the best thing for your children is a great marriage, but how do you DO that, on a daily basis? And what about other critical relationships in your life - friends, siblings, in-law’s...? Explore ways to keep your key relationships strong and healthy, while minimizing the effect of those that drain you.

Month 4: Motherhood as a Spiritual Journey
“Regardless of your personal beliefs, spiritual self-care is essential to your overall well-being. It’s about feeling centered, nurturing your essence, enhancing inner strength, living in integrity, trusting, experiencing a connection to a higher power, feeling a sense of purpose and finding meaning in your life.” There’s nothing quite like having a child to make you wonder, what’s it all about? Why are we here? And other big questions, that seem especially looming when you’re hormonal and sleep-deprived (or dealing with a hormonal and sleep-deprived teenager.) This session will be like enjoying a delicious, refreshing, cool drink of water for the thirsty soul.

Month 5: Reclaim Your Life: Strategies for Balance
“I have found it helpful to look at approaching and defining balance as having enough time, energy and resources for those things in life that are most important to you.” The Guide and the PRG will focus on four key strategies for achieving a healthy balance in your life: setting priorities and managing your energy, taking time for self-renewal, building a support network, and being more present in your life. Let your PRG help you implement theses strategies into your own life!

Month 6: Being Present and Remembering What Really Matters
“Most of us were never taught that being is just as important as doing. Slow down. Take time to really soak up life. I think most mothers will agree: we want to teach our kids that we value them for who they are, not for what they do.” The bottom line is, you are doing a GREAT job as a mother, RIGHT NOW. There is truly nothing you need to change or improve, everything - from the state of your house to the shape of your eyebrows to your role as Mom/wife/sister/friend etc is absolutely and completely WONDERFUL AS IT IS. My goal with this PRG is that it will help you recognize and embrace this truth, while also adding support and resources to your life so that you can pursue your potential as an individual as well (and show those beautiful children what an emotionally healthy and fulfilled Mom looks like!)

The quotes above are brief excerpts from The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-Balance Your Life.
