Session I

Month 1: Motherhood and Identity: Reconnecting with Who You Are
“Sometime between sleep deprivation, toilet training and homework, the question ‘who am I now?’ will surface for just about every mother.” Learn to appreciate where you are at right now; explore your values, goals and dreams; discover your Myers-Briggs personality type and how it relates to your mothering, and create your own Mommy Mission Statement.

Month 2: The Transformative Power of Self-Care
“Self-care is about nurturing yourself on all levels –physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually – so you can live, love and parent optimally.” You’ll discover specific ways to make self-care a priority in your life, and explore your deep-seated beliefs on this issue – not to mention the external feedback from society and other people!

Month 3: Creating Your Personal Support System
“I started to notice that people I really admired – those who seemed to experience more balance, integration and true emotional health and resiliency – had strong support systems in place and were comfortable stating their needs and asking others for help. I didn’t think they were weak at all – I really admired them!” Learn concrete ways to build your own support system. Do you feel like you should be able to do it ALL, by yourself? This is a question we’ll dig into more.

Month 4: Managing Your Energy: Setting Priorities, Saying No and Asking for Help
“We each have a finite amount of energy, time and resources. Most of us ‘give away’ and waste our energy every day without even realizing it... What we often don’t realize is that these activities deplete our valuable energy bank.” It’s really about living consciously – making decisions about how we spend our time based on what OUR values and priorities are, not what society’s or your neighbor’s or the PTA president’s or your mother-in-law’s values or priorities are... This meeting will help each of us focus on how to create healthy boundaries in our lives, to focus our energy and resources on what matters most to us.

Month 5: Good Is Good Enough: A Mother’s Mantra
“I changed my attitude from ‘I want everything to be the best it can be’ to the healthier and much more human mantra, ‘good is good enough.’” Most of us struggle with this - society, the media, comparing ourselves to others, and our own extremely high and often unrealistic expectations all cause us to feel that we’re never doing enough, or doing it perfectly enough... You’ll find great comfort in hearing from other Moms about this topic, and learning what to let go of, and ‘when to say when.’

Month 6: Let Your Light Shine: Owning Your Personal Power
“Thinking about self-love may feel strange or narcissistic. It certainly wasn’t something that was taught or discussed when most of us were growing up. But it is essential to feeling whole, confident and emotionally resilient. Without it, we aren’t really in a place that enables and encourages us to give to others.” Somehow, many women have a core belief: I’m not worth it. They may feel they’re not worthy of taking time, or money, or other resources for themselves... it feels self-indulgent, and therefore wrong. Oh my! If this feeling resonates with you, you need to join this PRG. Period.

The quotes above are brief excerpts from The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-Balance Your Life.
